
Jazmine was born and raised within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam Her mother, who was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her the position of curator for the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family relocated to the historical iconic. In 2005 she was a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with an alumna of the vocal music department. Sullivan began singing in the children's chorus in the contralto position, later she joined the adult chorus a couple of years after that. Sullivan did not get exposed to secular music until he was a teenager. "I began singing in solos at church and a person asked me to commit for a gospel recording at the age of 11. However, I was not ready to do that," she says. At that time, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I was allowed to sing "Accept the Grace of God" in The show Showtime at the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. When she was 13 years old, she performed to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday celebration. Sullivan was the first to sign her contract with Jive Records when she was fifteen. When she was 15 she signed with Jive Records. The label recorded her whole album at Jive Records, however the album was never made available for release. Sullivan was eventually removed from the record label. The singer had a great working relations and Missy Elliott. Elliott produced several of her songs which included "Backstabbers" that was written by Timbaland.
